Canadian Tire is releasing a $1 coin. Kinda awesome, I think. One of those things we'll show little kids when we're super old.

I like when they describe Sandy McTire, "the company's tam-o'shanter-bedecked and mustachioed fictional mascot," in this article here.

We'll see 'em at the end of 2010, and they'll be made at the Canadian Mint (just like the bills.)

Update: Apparently you can get them this weekend if you spend $25 bucks. Do you think this marketing scheme is gonna make me spend $25 I otherwise was not gonig to spend at Canadian Tire? You bet it is.
